Dispose of cooking fat, cooking oil, and frying fat with Alftett-Verwertung-West GmbH

Used cooking oil from the gastronomy, trade, and industry must be disposed of properly - this is legally required. As a certified used cooking oil disposer and processor, we go one step further: We not only provide our customers with suitable containers, but also regularly replace and clean them, and compensate for the disposed-of cooking fat, cooking oil, and frying fat. Afterwards, we also process the used cooking oil in such a way that it can be used as a raw material for the production of environmentally friendly biodiesel. Additionally, we offer a clever solution for free and sustainable disposal of frying oil from private households with our OckoBox, which can be placed at supermarkets and recycling centers.

Used cooking oil from the gastronomy industry

Fryers are constantly used in gastronomy and commercial kitchens. In order to guarantee a consistently good taste and comply with applicable hygiene regulations, the frying oil needs to be regularly changed. And of course, you must not dispose of the frying oil, just like other cooking oils and fats from your kitchen, in the drain, organic waste bin, or general waste. Instead, you must ensure proper disposal to protect the environment. And that's exactly what we, as used cooking oil disposal and recycling experts, take care of for you. We dispose of the following for you:

restaurant fette

Cooking oils
such as sunflower oil, canola oil and olive oil

fettcontainer

Frying oil, French fry fat, fryer oil and liquid cooking fats

Frittierfett

Solid frying fat, used cooking oil and cooking fat

Our compensation - We pay for your cooking fat, cooking oil, and frying fat

We not only provide our customers with suitable containers for proper disposal of used cooking oil and regularly replace them, but we also offer compensation for the collected fat. Using standardized container sizes allows us to accurately determine the amount filled. To determine the actual fat content, approximately 10 to 15% is deducted for dirt and water, and this amount is then converted from liters to kilograms. Since oil is lighter than fat, the formula is: 1 liter of oil x 0.9 = 0.9 kg of fat. Compensation is either paid in cash directly upon handover of the used fat to our drivers, or we calculate it monthly and pay the amount in the following month.

Benefits of recycling used cooking oil and frying fat

Although they are no longer useful in the kitchen, old frying oils and cooking fats still have value and should not simply be discarded as waste. They still contain a significant amount of energy and serve as a valuable secondary raw material for producing environmentally friendly biodiesel. Biodiesel is a standardized biofuel used by logistics companies in their trucks or blended with a certain legally prescribed proportion of mineral diesel for refueling cars. This intelligent form of recycling, or rather upcycling, of old cooking oil and frying fat into biodiesel helps prevent waste, sustainably protects the environment, and promotes climate protection by reducing CO2 emissions. Any residual materials generated in the recycling process are energetically utilized in a biogas plant and a combined heat and power plant. From the kitchen to the tank, not a drop is wasted.

The recycling of used cooking oil is carried out by us according to the following process:

1. Collection

The fat contaminated with frying residue and water is collected by our customers in specially designed containers for used fat disposal after cooling. We provide these containers in suitable sizes, ranging from 30-liter drum containers to 1000-liter stainless steel tanks.

2. Pickup

Our drivers will pick up the filled containers from you and transport them for recycling. In exchange, you will receive cleaned and disinfected containers for further collection

3. Heating and coarse sieving

Since solid and semi-solid frying fats are also used for frying besides liquid oils, we first prepare the collected used cooking fats for further recycling. For this purpose, the containers from the gastronomy industry are heated in a heat chamber at approximately 30°C for over 12 hours. Afterwards, their contents are emptied into a collection basin, where waste and solids such as breadcrumbs or remnants of French fries are sieved out.

4. Separation of water and fat

From the collecting basin, the used fat is pumped into a heated high tank and further heated up to 70°C. At this point, the emulsion separates into water and fat, with the heavier water collecting at the bottom of the tank and the lighter used fat floating on top. The used fat can then be pumped into an insulated storage tank.

5. Utilization of water and residues

The water separated from the fat and the residues are fed to the biogas plant for further utilization.

6. Treated used fat as a new raw material

After this process, the treated used fat has a maximum free fatty acid (FFA) content of 5% and a maximum water content of 2%. It can now either be directly used as fuel in a combined heat and power plant (CHP) for energy generation, or it can be converted into biodiesel as a secondary raw material in a biodiesel refinery. During the esterification process, glycerin is produced as a residue, which is in turn used in a biogas plant for the production of electricity and gas.

For the collection of liquid and solid cooking fat, we offer various container sizes tailored to your operational needs.
We have the following options available for you:
- Snap-ring barrels (lid barrels) with a volume of 30, 60, 120, and 150 liters,
- Oilbox (OckoBOX) KD 90,
- IBC containers of 600 and 1000 liters,
- Stainless steel containers of 1000 liters.

Of course, all containers will be cleaned and disinfected by us and placed at your location.
In addition, our drivers will also collect any other sealed containers filled with
used fat, such as jugs, gallons, tin buckets, and plastic buckets.

Waste disposal certificates

As a waste disposal specialist, we are fully certified for the transport and recycling of used fats. We have all the necessary permits to comply with the commercial waste ordinance and legal requirements. The certificates include the EU certificate for used cooking oils, the KAT 3 approval, and the sustainability certificate REDcert-EU.

We are part of the Energiepark Heinfelde Group

We belong to the group of Energiepark Heinfelde, a location with numerous companies and extensive expertise in the field of waste disposal, biogas, substrate trading, and transport. The following companies are part of the group:

BioService Nord disposes of packaged and unpackaged food from various sectors such as gastronomy or food retail as well as the industry using container forms such as bins, various MGBs, boxes, or on pallets with its own waste management system for all types of bins.

A supply and disposal specialist for biogas plants is the PHL Substratkontor. Their field of activity includes loose animal by-products and organic waste, as well as operating waste digestion plants. In addition to drying iron sludges, PHL Substratkontor also takes care of disposal and trade. In addition to their already broad range of activities, the company also offers industrial services. They provide advisory support and are also happy to offer tours of biogas plants. Special services such as cleaning of sewage treatment plants and biogas plants complete the offering.

Our PHL Entsorgung container service is also part of the corporate group. Containers for building rubble, old wood, residual waste, garden waste, mixed debris, films & co. are available. The new Schutt-ComeBag serve as transportation medium for the subsequent recycling process.

Heinfelder Bioenergie is a biogas plant for biogas production from waste.

Heinfelder Naturstrom is responsible for biogas production from renewable resources.

Navis Börger is another biogas plant in the company network.

With tank loaders and solid-state trucks, PHL Transporte GmbH transports by-products and waste from industrial plants, which reach the ecological disposal site as recyclable raw materials. There, they are properly processed, recycled, and energetically used. In biogas plants, organic materials are turned into ecological biogas, which is fed into the power grid as electricity or even directly injected as treated gas into natural gas supplies. The remaining low-energy residues eventually leave the biogas plants as fertilizer for agriculture. The transportation services of the digestate from biogas plants are also part of the services provided by "PHL Transporte GmbH". Additionally, nutrient trading of manure, digestate, manure, & co is also offered as an additional service.
